Importance of Proper Work Environment
Monday, June 1, 2009 at 9:09PM The environment around you plays a huge role in how much you accomplish each day with your home business. It is important to work in a place where you have little to no distractions while your doing your daily tasks.
It is very important to eliminate all unnecessary noises. Do not have a television show or news in your background if at all possible. Turn off anything around you that won't allow you to truly focus on what you are doing. If you are truly treating this as a business and not a hobby then this will come easily to you. If it is at all possible then I highly recommend having a designated office in your home that is strictly for working on your home business. If you are able to do this, then you can also benefit from some extra tax advantages.
Prepare a plan with designated time frames set for which you work on individual daily tasks. I recommend first deciding on how much time you are committed to putting into your home business each day. I would then set aside 80% of that time totally focusing on marketing your home business. This could be broke down into sub categories such as email marketing (list builders, solo ads, or personal list) 40%, traffic exchange marketing 20%, and attraction marketing 20%. Keep in mind this is just an example of how to put 80% of your time towards marketing. As you learn new skills in attraction marketing you probably will want to put more of the 80% towards that skill. Keep in mind that Success = Skills * Action so in the beginning if your skill level is lower it will require more action to get the same results as someone with a higher skill level. No matter what your current skill level, I know from experience that it is totally possible to be successful online if you take massive action and learn new skills along the way. No matter how you break down your 80% of marketing time be sure to set your environment so you can focus completely on the marketing. This should include such things as only having whatever marketing method you are doing opened on your internet browser.
If you are using list builders to market then close all browser windows not pertaining to that marketing platform including closing out your email account (having your email account open can and will distract you I know from experience).
If marketing with traffic exchanges then only have traffic exchange browsers open. Do not get caught up in looking at other peoples ads on them. You are only there to market your business and that is it. This is very important Mindset to have on TE's.
If you are using attraction marketing through blogging, ezine article writing, book marking sites, social marketing ect.. then only have browsers open that pertain to what your doing.
There is still 20% of your time to break down. I recommend setting aside 15% of this time towards learning new skills. Dedicating time to learning new skills can be broken down as well. Here is a Breakdown of how to invest this time. Focus your learning time towards communication skills, leadership skills, and internet network marketing skills.
The last 5% of your time should be solely dedicated to supporting your team or customer base. Yes it is very important to give your network marketing team the support they need or if your marketing your own products it is very important to serve your customers. Note: If you are involved with a network marketing team that doesn't support you then what type of leader is your sponsor? (something to think about). This 5% may seem like a small time slot to do such an important thing. Well, look at it this way. If you have learned skills that can improve peoples results, became a leader, have results people want and learned how to communicate these skills effectively to them don't you think these people would be much more happier spending 10 to 20 minutes with you on the phone getting true value information. Or do you think they would rather get three 30 minute calls from you a week telling them that you aren't getting any results and you aren't sure what they should be doing to get results. During your time designated for support it is important to focus on exactly that. Don't be trying to slide in some extra reading or marketing while your talking to your team member or customer. Give them your undivided attention they deserve. If your responding to emails then same thing put your focus on the email your responding to.
In closing it is very important to make your environment be as close as possible to the task you are doing with minimum distractions.
